Time to move on, and we were soon heading on to Paestum,
another archaeological site but, this time, Greek. After shopping at a Conad
supermarket, we took the motorway to Sorrento before taking a road along the
coast. This road has beaches and camping all along it and, because of that, it
has a 50 km/h (30 mph) limit for many miles. Together with the fact that the
road surface was very poor, it made that part of the journey very tedious.
We had a good welcome at Camping Mare Pineta and were taken in a golf buggy past
the many cabins and permanent pitches to see our pitch options – flat grass
pitches next to the beach or in the shade of pine trees set back from the
beach. There were only a couple of flat pitches in the wood but, given that it
was 28°C, we chose one of those.
We had a short stroll along the beach and, later, we headed for the campsite
restaurant & pizzeria. I have to say that the pizzas were very good and,
with half a litre of the house wine, the bill was very reasonable.
