No noisy Italians (or people of other nations) last night, so woke up refreshed this morning and raring to go. We had planned a short excursion to Skofja Loka today and the weather was cold again but sunny with good visibility. It was a very easy drive to Skofja Loka but as normal we had fun trying to find somewhere to park. All of the car parks in the town were full and, even it they weren't, it would have been difficult to squeeze Henrietta into the marked spaces. We went a short distance out of the centre and turned into a housing estate where there was a car park with a large number of free places. The five minute walk into the centre lead us to the narrow Capuchin Bridge and over into the old town. The most interesting part of the old town is Mestni Trg (the town square) where there are many buildings of architectural merit. The Homan House (built in 1511) is particularly interesting with its mixture of styles and frescos on the outside. We knew that, being a Monday, the castle with its museums would be closed but we walked up to it to take a closer look and enjoy the view over the town and countryside.
After shopping in the local supermarket, we drove out of town and up a valley towards Zelezniki and found a picnic spot near the river for lunch. We then returned to Ljubljana to catch up on chores and post the blog on the Internet. The campsite has WiFi Internet access that is, allegedly available from anywhere on the site. This sounds very good and it is fairly priced at £6 for 2 hours, so lets see if it works.
