We had planned a quiet day today, which was just as well as
it rained all morning. At midday we got out for a short walk along the Aneu river,
taking jumpers and rain gear only to boil as the sun came out. We watched lots
of fishermen fly fishing, some up to their thighs in the river.
In the afternoon we chose another short walk that took us in
the opposite direction along the river until we turned inland to a viewpoint.
This is a beautiful area, the river is very pretty and the mountains provide a
lovely backdrop. Even at this time of year we saw lots of wild flowers and
butterflies and the slopes were full of wild herbs – thyme and oregano.

mountains from a bird hide on our afternoon walk – the birds were indeed
hiding.
