We have decided that Proerna is the best wild camping site
that we have stopped at and it is definitely on the list for another visit. Next
time we would like to look around the village where they have discovered a
simple tholos tomb and remains of ancient buildings, although there may not be
any visible remains.
We drove on to Larissa and the new ‘Diachronic Museum of Larissa’. I can’t
believe that I am saying this, but another excellent Greek museum. I was especially
impressed by the many figurines on display – see photos below.
We drove on to Vergina, Jane’s favourite Greek site and high up on my list, and
parked up in the camperstop there. This is just a small parking area with a
tap, four electric points and a tap – no dumping facilities. They get most of
their income from daytime car and coach parking and charge just 7.50€ for
motorhomes overnight with electricity. We were directed to park on the edge so
that there was plenty of room for the coaches the next day.
