Friday 30th September – Worblingen, Germany

The pattern of the weather over the last few days has been heavy mist in the morning with the sun making a late appearance at about 16:00. It hasn't been cold but we haven't had the hot sunshine that they seem to be enjoying in England. This hasn't worried us as the company has been more important than the weather but now we are moving on and it would be good to see the sun!
Well the morning dawned even mistier than ever and, after lots of sad farewell, we set off from the campsite, skirting Zurich and heading towards Lake Constance (Bodensee to the Germans). In our huge German Stellplatz book we had spotted a new entry listed at Worblingen, not far from Lake Constance and just over the border in Germany. We found the site on the edge of the village, next to a stream and with views over fields and woodland. There were four vans there already and the last position was taken shortly after we arrived.
We were very keen to watch the England v Scotland Rugby World Cup match in the morning and so I set up the satellite dish. Whatever I did, I couldn't get the system to lock onto the satellite and, very frustrated, I had to accept that we wouldn't be able to watch the rugby.
We took a walk into the village and then I got out my bike for its first outing of the trip. Germany is excellent for marked walks and cycle tracks, every village seems to have many of them and the stellplatz had a footpath and cycle track running straight past it. I cycled a few kilometres beside the river into the next village of Bohlingen. We didn't find any open shops in Worblingen but here I found a farm shop with two mobile shops parked outside, one selling meat and the other cheese. That was dinner sorted! Shortly afterwards, I found a supermarket and was able to buy a few bottles of German beer – the choice is quite bewildering.
The mist finally cleared enough to let the sun through for a couple of hours before dusk descended and we were able to sit out and enjoy it before retreating into the van.
