It was a very wet morning, so we had a gentle start and then
drove on to the Seasonova les 7 Iles campsite at Trelevern, stopping for some
shopping in Penvenan. The weather was so wet that we had no desire to get out
of the van unless absolutely necessary. Arriving at the campsite in their lunch
break so we found a free pitch with a view over the sea behind a 1.5m high pink
granite sea defence wall – they obviously get some serious storms here. It was
low tide and large areas of rocks had been uncovered. We looked over the island
of Tome to the distant islands of Les Sept Iles.
We took a short walk along the coast before retreating to the van as the wind strengthened and the sea beyond the rocks became very rough. The islands that we had seen when we arrived disappeared from view. We then noticed that kite surfers were appearing and some of them were very talented. They used the strong winds and rough seas to good effect, travelling at great speed and then leaping to huge heights from the crest of the waves, staying airborne for many seconds. It was a very impressive show!
