We realised that we were unlikely to get Henrietta repaired on a Saturday and decided that we would be better off getting to the Bordeaux area on Monday. On this basis and because La Rochelle is a very pleasant place, we decided to stay another day.
The day was quite wet with gentle rain or drizzle on and off all day leading to a somewhat damp sightseeing day. We visited some more sights that we missed yesterday including the Hotel de Ville build in the reign of Henry IV (late 16th and early 17th Centuries). The building is very impressive, looking like a miniature Disney castle with serious defensive walls. We just missed the only guided tour of the day but were able to admire it from the courtyard. We also walked to the new marina where there are thousands of bots moored and everything that any yachtsman could want.
As night fell, the rain got heavier and we were very glad to get back to Henrietta, put the heating on and remove our soggy clothes.
