A day of relaxing, blog writing, chores and reading. I have
nearly finished an excellent book, ‘The Shortest History of Greece’ by James
Heneage. The author is British but lives in the Peloponnese and the book covers
Ancient Greece to the modern day, through Greek independence, bankruptcy, war,
civil war, political chaos and the Greek financial crisis. Especially
fascinating was the time that we have known and visited Greece – from the late
1970’s to today.
We have seen very few British vans since we have been in Greece but there are
currently two in this camping. One is a family of four in a caravan and I got
talking to another couple just a few pitches away. Michael and Susie are from
Glasgow and, like us, retired early and love to travel. I just stopped to say
hello but it turned out to be a very pleasant long chat and Jane wondered where
I had got to.
