A trip to a Netto supermarket for some German beer and other
essentials and then off to the motorway for the next stage of our journey home.
I had identified an ASCI site near Trppstadt, on the edge of a small lake and
with a good restaurant. There were a few sets of roadworks on the route and
some queues but we arrived at Camping Freizeitzentrum Sagmuhle by 15:30 and
settled in. We had hoped to eat in the restaurant as it had ‘local specialities’
but, being a Monday, the restaurant was closed. We had guessed that this could
be the case and cooked our own meal in the van.
This area has lots of small lakes and the ‘Sagmuhle’ in the campsite name is a
clue. It means ‘saw mill’ and the mills were water-powered with the lakes acting
as large mill ponds.
Photos: Autumn colours reflected in the lake at the campsite.
