I neglected to mention in yesterday’s blog that all of the
food, ouzo and wine was provided free of charge. This is typical of the Greeks
– they are incredibly generous people.
So, it has been a quiet day today. We walked inland into nearby Glyfa and then
down to Glyfa beach. The road took us parallel to the beach and when it came to
an end, we moved onto the beach and past another campsite. Ionion Beach
campsite is certainly posher than Aginara Beach and there are touring pitches
right by the beach but I am sure that their restaurant isn’t as good! It was
just a short walk along the beach to get us back to Aginara. In the afternoon,
Jane swam in the sea – the first time this holiday.
We had arranged to meet Henk and Geke in Aginara’s restaurant again tonight and
another really fun night of good food and conversation.
Photos: The church at Glyfa where big celebrations would
have taken place last night; When we first arrived at Aginara at the end of
March, all the fields in the area were covered in cloches and these are now
being removed to reveal, mostly, water melon plants.
