Saturday 30th April 2022 - Vivari, near Tolon, Greece

We have been to Nafplio a few times but not for many years and we wanted to see what it was like now. The answer is that it is now a huge tourist attraction and it was buzzing.
We went shopping in a Lidl that was on our way into Tolon and we decided to leave Cara parked in the street outside and walk into the town.
We visited the Nafplio Archaeological Museum which was good but half of one of the two large rooms was shut off for no apparent reason.
It turned out that it was market day and we spent some time wandering through and even bought some orange blossom honey.
When we got to the port we were amazed at the number of massive, luxury motor yachts moored along the dock. There was also a cruise ship anchored in the bay and there were small boats plying backwards and forwards ferrying people to and from it. It was a little too crowded and touristy for us and we beat a hasty retreat.

Photos: This ‘throne seated figure’ from a Nafplio chamber tomb dating to 1400-1300 BC shows that Greek men have been laid-back for thousands of years; And the women were outraged about it (Tiryns 12th century BC); The line-up of huge motor yachts.
