A quiet day today, writing blog and doing chores but we did manage to wander into the town. We had to cross the road bridge to get to the town and the river looked very cold and was very fast flowing, probably due to yesterday’s rain. Prutz is pretty but not spectacular and almost all of the restaurants and cafes were closed as we are between the Summer season and the Winter skiing season. The campsite is in an area called Sauerbrunnen (sour brown) named after a spring just outside the campsite. Apparently, the water is good for diseases of the digestive organs and is “a source of health and refreshment. A drinking fountain has been installed by the source so that people can sample the water and fill bottles if they wish. The bowl was stained brown from the iron content but the water was clear and I couldn’t detect any sour smell that is so often present in health spring water. The taste was actually perfectly acceptable with just a hint of alka-seltzer flavour. Perhaps we should fill the van’s water tank with it? That idea was vetoed by Jane!
