Sunday 16th September 2007

On to the Southern Black Forest at Titisee on the edge of a lake. This time we had identified two potential sites in the area that had WiFi Internet access, so we hoped that this time we would succeed.
Titisee was heaving – the weather was good and it was a Sunday. Visitors came from many countries – a large number of French (very close to the border), Italian and even a very few British in addition to the majority German. The lake is very pretty but Titisee itself was not very interesting and far too busy – a bit like Blackpool on a lake complete with shops full of tat, saucy postcards and 'Kiss Me Quick' hats. However, food was good and reasonably priced.
Success, our first choice site has Wifi – tomorrow will be an Internet day. On that basis, booked in for 2 nights. Chose a pitch right on the side of the lake.
Found that there was another British motorhome near to us and said hello to the occupants – Phil and Sue Vince who hailed from Portsmouth. During the conversation it became obvious that Phil knew Foster Yeoman, my former employer. Phil had been a haulier before becoming a diesel fitter. He had has hauled many times from Torr and especially from Eastleigh and Botley where he still occasionally collects loads. His claim to fame is that he hauled the first ever load from Byrail Limestone. Phil has worked for many years for Oakwood groundworkers. It really is a small world – I wonder how many times I will say that before the end of the Odyssey.
Watched the sun go down over the lake whilst enjoying a dinner of Gulasch and am now typing this with a view out of the cab of the lights of Titisee at the far end of the lake. Perfect!
